StarSeek is a public experiment: can someone with zero rocketry experience teach themselves enough to reach orbit? This is the plan.

The Goal

Put a satellite in orbit

Orbit isn't about going up — it's about going sideways fast enough that you keep missing the ground. That takes roughly 28,000 km/h, and a vehicle that can survive getting there.

The target: a small satellite, self-built or kit-based, placed into low Earth orbit by a rocket I designed and launched. If it phones home from space, the mission is complete.

The space industry can feel like a closed club of PhDs and billion-dollar budgets. I want to find out how far curiosity, persistence, and public learning can actually go — and bring everyone watching along for the ride.

Start embarrassingly small

Cardboard tubes and hobby motors before anything serious. The first goal is simply to launch and recover something safely.

Earn every certification

Level 1, then Level 2 high-power rocketry certifications — the legal and practical gateways to bigger motors.

Master the hard parts

Avionics, recovery, staging, guidance. Each is a project in itself, learned one failed test at a time.

Reach for orbit

A small satellite and a vehicle capable of the velocity to keep it up there. The hardest thing an amateur can attempt.
